Learning How to Change WordPress Language is important. Changing the WordPress language is not so much a challenge because of its advanced functionality, it’s actually effortless because WordPress is fully localized into 65 languages.

The positioning of the site nowadays is quite significant. The website appears more genuine and strengthens the user interface. It is also no wonder that many people would want to know how to translate their website in their local edition from default English.

How to Change WordPress Language Easily

Before we get into describing the procedure, there is one thing that should be pointed out, and that is that modifying the language of the WordPress platform translates the screen language and some of the text in the theme.

Let’s get into How to Change WordPress Language Easily:

Changing the language through the Admin Pannel

In order to change the language of the WordPress site, you will first need to access the Admin dashboard. Go to the Settings tab after doing so, and then to the General section.

The conveniently named Site Language environment will be somewhere around the centre of the General section.

You will be offered a drop-down list containing the installed and available languages to configure this setting to your liking.

Just choose your preferred language, click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page, and you’re done.

Installing a language manually

It might not be included in your installation, depending on how commonly used your language of choice is. You must first download the language file in that case and then complete the manual installation.

Let’s demonstrate this with example.

Go to the WordPress Translators team’s official blog, find any language you need, and click the percentage value in the language-specific row. In this example, we will select German.

On the next page, in a column called Set/Sub Project, click on the version number. The version for German is named 5.6.x – Development.

Next, go to the bottom of the page, find the export option displayed in the image below, and choose Machine Object Message Catalog (.mo) as the type of export file. You will begin downloading the file to your computer by doing this.

Log in to cPanel now to install the language and click the file manager option.

Locate the wp-content/languages folder using the file manager (if you don’t have a folder named Languages, just click New Folder and create a folder), open it, and then click Upload.

Finally, the Machine Object Message Catalog (.mo) file you downloaded earlier is uploaded into cPanel using the Upload option. Just log out of cPanel and your installation should be complete once the upload is complete.

The newly installed language should now be available for selection in the Site Language drop-down list when you go to the WordPress Settings page.
